JOIN OUR COMMUNITY CONNECTION EVENT!

Rideau Community Health Services is inviting community agencies, and interested community members, to come spend an afternoon together.

Where do we turn (or want to turn) in a crisis, during a pandemic, when we get sick, when we need help for our families, children, or neighbours, when we celebrate, when we want to feel strong. We turn to our communities, close to home, and to the organizations that serve us there.

Community Health and Wellbeing Week (CHWW) is an annual campaign coordinated by the Alliance for Healthier Communities. Every year during CHWW, members of the Alliance organize a wide range of activities and special events to bring attention to the issues that are important to them.

Rideau Community Health Services is inviting community agencies, and interested community members, to come spend an afternoon together for a Community Connection Event.

The goal of this event is to address the prevalent issue of social isolation with our communities. By fostering community connections, we can share and support the good work community agencies are doing. Let's create a ripple effect that strengthens community bonds and promotes overall wellbeing.

Objectives

  1. Combat Isolation: Our main objective is to combat the growing problem of isolation. At RCHS we are creating an inclusive environment where individuals can forge meaningful connections. We want to hear what others are doing.
  2. Promote Human Connection: Authentic human connection is essential for personal wellbeing and community cohesion. The Community Connection event provides a platform for community agency workers and individuals to meet new people, engage in conversations, and establish relationships.
  3. Showcase Social Prescribing: Social prescribing recognizes the importance of non-medical interventions. By highlighting its effectiveness, we aim to raise awareness and encourage individuals to consider innovative solutions for their health.

We might live in an ever-more (digitally) connected world, but we have all learned, especially after the last few years, that we live and depend on the people and services closest to home.

Please join us for an afternoon of connections and conversations on Wednesday October 25th from 11:30 – 4PM (lunch to be served from 12 – 12:45) at the Smiths Falls Civitan Club (12468 Hwy 15 North, Smiths Falls, ON K7A 4S7).

Space for this event is limited so please register early through Eventbrite and limit your registration to one person per organization.
