About High Risk Chiropody

This program provides chiropody care to clients with foot ulcers or those who are at high risk of developing foot ulcers. The chiropodist will work with primary care providers, community nursing services, and other specialists as needed.

How to Get Services

A referral from your healthcare provider is required to access chiropody services.

About Our Foot Care Services

New referrals are not currently being accepted.

Foot care services are available to clients who have limited income and are unable to care for their own feet. Services include nail and callus care and tips on how to care for your own feet.

Rideau Community Health Services is not currently accepting the intake of new referrals for routine foot care (foot care nurse), as we are unable to keep up with the current demand. We will communicate when we are once again open for new routine foot care referrals.

Note: RCHS High-Risk Chiropody Program (ulcers, open wounds, infection) remains unchanged, so please continue to refer.

Please note: In order to be eligible for the foot care program, you must:

  • Have an annual income of $39,000 or less; and
  • Be diagnosed with diabetes or other health condition that increases ulcer/amputation risk; and
  • Be unable to afford foot care with another program ($30 - $45 per appointment); and
  • Not have extended health insurance (foot care or chiropody) to cover foot care expenses.
