Rideau Community Health Services (RCHS) uses security cameras at some of its locations to help promote the safety and security of clients, visitors, staff, volunteers, students, and property.
Why We Use Security Cameras
Security cameras may be used to:
- Support the safety and security of individuals on our premises
- Help investigate incidents involving safety, security, or property damage
- Assist law enforcement when required by law
Security cameras are not used to monitor clients or staff on a routine basis.
Where Cameras Are Located
Security cameras are located in select public areas of RCHS facilities. Cameras are not placed in areas where individuals have a heightened expectation of privacy, such as washrooms or examination rooms.
Signage is posted at entrances and other appropriate locations where video surveillance is in use.
Protecting Your Privacy
RCHS is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of personal information collected through video surveillance.
Access to recorded footage is restricted to authorized personnel and recordings are only reviewed when required for a safety, security, or investigative purpose.
Video surveillance records are handled in accordance with applicable privacy legislation, including the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
Retention of Recordings
Video recordings are retained for a limited period and are automatically deleted unless they are required for an investigation, legal proceeding, or another purpose permitted by law.
