About AI-Assisted Medical Documentation
Our clinic may use Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted medical documentation tools to support healthcare providers during appointments. These tools assist with note-taking, documentation, and the preparation of clinical records, allowing providers to spend more time focused on patient care.
This information explains how these tools may be used and how your personal health information is protected.
Client Consent
During any appointment where your healthcare provider intends to use an AI-assisted documentation tool, they will ask for your verbal consent and document your decision in your medical record.
You may decline the use of AI-assisted documentation tools at any time. Your decision will not affect your access to care or the quality of services you receive.
What Are AI-Assisted Documentation Tools?
AI-assisted documentation tools use advanced language-processing technology to help healthcare providers create clinical notes and other documentation based on information shared during an appointment.
These tools may process information provided through conversation, audio, or text and generate draft clinical notes for review by your healthcare provider.
All documentation generated by an AI-assisted tool is reviewed by your healthcare provider before being included in your health record.
Why Are They Used?
AI-assisted documentation tools are intended to:
- Improve the efficiency of medical documentation;
- Reduce administrative workload for healthcare providers;
- Support accurate and complete clinical records; and
- Allow providers to spend more time focused on client care and interaction.
Privacy, Confidentiality, and Security
AI-assisted documentation tools may process personal health information discussed during your appointment. This information is used solely for the purpose of providing healthcare services and maintaining your medical record.
Our clinic only uses AI-assisted documentation tools that meet applicable privacy, confidentiality, and security requirements.
