The Food Cupboard Program, a part of the Health Promotion programming in Merrickville at Rideau Community Health Services is excited to be welcoming the CP Holiday Train back to the village on Monday, November 27th, 2023 at 4:45 PM. This is the 25th year the Holiday Train has been supporting food banks and food shelves across our network by raising money, food and awareness for food insecurity issues. Since its inception in 1999, the CP Holiday Train has raised more than $22.5 million and more than 5 million pounds of food for community food banks across North America.
The brightly lit train will stop at the East Broadway and County Road 2 tracks spreading Christmas cheer and FREE live entertainment. Watch for social media posts and community posters for updates on who will entertaining us.
The CP Holiday Train collections helps will assist the RCHS Food Cupboard Program, House of Lazarus in Mountain, and South Grenville Food Bank (covering Townships of Augusta, Edwardsburg – Cardinal and the Town of Prescott) meet the ever-increasing demands of food insecurity in our communities. Food banks are struggling to keep up with the changing needs and demand of our services in our communities and we would like to extend a special thank-you to everyone for their continued support to their local food banks.
Please help us spread the word that the CP Holiday Train and all its wonder is coming back to the village, please do this by following the train on social media. Please invite your friends and family to the evening and spread the message about the importance of heart-healthy donations by using #HealthyDonations.
